Justin Pearson is best known for his involvement with musical acts such as The Locust, All Leather, Retox, Swing Kids, The Crimson Curse, Holy Molar, Head Wound City, and Some Girls, as well as starting independent record label Three One G. Most recently Justin has published his first book, “From the Graveyard of the Arousal Industry”. He has also ventured into creating a production company called Leg Lifters with band mate Nathan Joyner, editing videos and short films, as well as remixing music.
Justin’s music career started at the age of fifteen, with his first band, Struggle. With that band he toured the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. The band’s connection to independent labels in conjunction with touring started a lineage of bands he has been part of as well as collaborations with other bands such as Jenny Piccolo, Kid 606, Bastard Noise, and The Bloody Beetroots. His most notable band to date is The Locust, who continue to tour relentlessly for well over a decade. On the road throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Europe, and Japan, Three One G has managed to team up and release albums by acts such as Cattle Decapitation, The Chinese Stars, The Blood Brothers, Zs, Arab on Radar, Antioch Arrow, Das Oath, Moving Units, Quintron, Orthrelm, and Unbroken.
Justin has managed to stay ahead of the musical and artistic curve as well as keep a political edge to what he has been involved with. Bands which he has been part of have constantly played benefit concerts in support for organizations such as Planned Parenthood, The Black Panther Party, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, Anti-racist Action, Animal Liberation Front, Earth First, GLBT, Greenpeace, as well as helped fund local community centers, women’s shelters, and no-kill animal shelters.
Justin’s most recent endeavor, becoming an author, and releasing “From the Graveyard of the Arousal Industry”, published by Soft Skull Press, has brought attention to his entire life, including his infamous appearance on The Jerry Springer Show, how he started a record label, as well as the inner workings of the music he creates.
